Strait Stitch Upholstery is built on a passion for craftsmanship that started early and grew through hands-on experience across marine, automotive, and furniture upholstery.

Alethea was first introduced to upholstery in high school, where an initial course sparked a lasting interest in the trade. After graduating, she gained early industry exposure by volunteering at a local upholstery shop, supporting administrative work while learning the day-to-day operations of the business.

Driven to develop her skills further, she moved to the west coast to attend school for automotive upholstery. After completing her training, she remained in British Columbia, working on classic and import vehicles—refining her attention to detail and precision craftsmanship.

Over time, her focus expanded into marine upholstery, working extensively on coastal projects that require materials and techniques built to withstand harsh environments.

Strait Stitch Upholstery was founded to bring that combined experience into one business, offering high-quality work across multiple industries. Today, the business operates seasonally with a focus on marine upholstery and canvas work in the summer, and automotive and furniture projects through the winter months.
